I built this web in an attempt to provide a place to store a synopsis of my experiences, to try to promote appreciation for the aquatic environment and to experiment with different web development and publishing tools.

My web, thus far, was designed, built and is maintained almost entirely with hand-coded HTML,  SSI (Server Side Includes) and custom CGI (Common Gateway Interface) programs written in PERL, C and C++.  For some of the dynamic HTML, I coded Java applets.  I swiped (borrowed) a couple of things from Microsoft FrontPage 2003, such as the page counter on my Intro page and the Java applet for the hover buttons at the top of each page because I didn't feel like re-inventing the wheel and the page counters are quite nice (however meaningless).
